Built by Baldwin in Dec 1944 for the US Army #3523. It came to Alaska Railroad in 1945 as 557. Retired in June 1963. Sold to Michaelson Steel & Supply in Everett Wa. in 1964. Owner Monte Holm moved the engine to Moses Lake Wa in the late 1960's and created this 210ft long railroad...Mon-Road Railroad. In late 2011 the 557 was being returned to the Alaska Railroad and is there now as of Jan 2012. |
