Album Info:The Mon-Road Rail in Moses Lake Wa. is only 210ft long. A static display created by the late Monte Holm in the late 1960's. Monte bought the last running steam engine on the Alaska RR in 1963. The "557" was in Everett at the Michaelson Steel plant for a few years 1964-5 where it got its "Mon-Railroad" naming by "MONte Holm". Monte moved the 557 to Moses Lake in the late 1960's and created this steam engine, a SPS business passenger car, and an old woodsided GN caboose. Apparently there is a museum associated with this display. Some time after I took these shots, the display has undergone some changes most recently with the 557 being returned to Alaska in Jan. 2012. The SPS business passenger car "The Ruth M" got repainted into a different scheme. The ex GN caboose X494 now sits in Cashmere and it's been replaced by an BN caboose.
